Any ranking of design agencies is, at some level, an act of provocation. Design is subjective; awards are self-nominated; client rosters tell only a partial story. And yet: the Indian brand design industry, having quietly matured over the last two decades, is now large enough and considered enough to reward the effort of a considered list.
This is that list — India's twenty most influential brand design agencies as they stand in 2026. It draws on four things: sustained awards recognition (Goafest, Kyoorius, Cannes Lions, D&AD, Effies); the calibre and continuity of the client roster; the tenure and reputation of the practice; and the perceived quality of the body of work as judged by our profession.
It is not a definitive ranking. Reasonable people will disagree with the order. But every agency listed here would appear on any credible longlist of India's leading brand design firms, and the intent is to offer a useful starting point for marketers looking for the right partner — and a fair recognition of the practices that have shaped how brands are built in this country.
Methodology, briefly
Twenty agencies were selected on the combined weight of four criteria: awards over the past decade, calibre of continuing client relationships, tenure of practice, and body of work quality. No agency listed here has been included on the basis of a single project or a single year of prominence. All are actively operating in 2026.

What the list reveals
Two things worth noticing. First, Indian brand design in 2026 is a genuinely mature market — a mix of global network agencies (Landor, Interbrand, FutureBrand, Conran, Ogilvy Design), long-established independents (Elephant, Chlorophyll, DY Works, Ray+Keshavan, VGC) and a new generation of considered challengers. The category is neither dominated by foreign networks nor bereft of them.
Second, the geographic centre of gravity is no longer just Mumbai. Bangalore has quietly become the second capital of Indian design — home to some of the country's most respected consultancies. Pune, Delhi and even smaller cities host agencies whose work sits at the level of the national leaders.
A note on the international consultancies
Wolff Olins, Pentagram and a handful of other global brand consultancies serve Indian clients without maintaining local offices, typically working from London, New York and Dubai. Their contribution to Indian brand history is meaningful — Wolff Olins' historic work with the Tata Group being one obvious example — but this list focuses on agencies with a continuous India-based practice. Their absence here is a matter of scope, not judgement.
The Indian brand design industry has spent thirty years earning the right to be taken seriously. It is now taken seriously. This list is a small acknowledgement of that fact.
